Growing Growing Growing

SIX MONTHS
Ben is definitely healthy, happy and growing more like a tree than a weed. This kid is THICK!
I cannot believe how fast he has grown. He's sitting up, rolling over, putting everything he can get his hands on in his mouth, talking (his own language), laughing and he just got his first tooth. It's almost like watching a miracle to see him develop and grow.
Any mother of boys knows that there are 4 things they are really good at:
1. Eating - I decided to introduce solids to Ben at 5 months. The books and doctors say that most babies will eat about 2 TBS of baby food per day for the first couple of weeks after being introduced. Well, my little Ben didn't stop at 2 TBS - he ate at least 8 oz on the first try. He just kept eating and eating and eating... He still nurses every 3 hours, we've just added 16-20 oz of my home-made baby food (carrots, apples, pears, oatmeal - you name it. If it can be blended, he'll eat it!)
2. Sleeping. At night he'll sleep about 8-10 hours and still sleeps about 6 hours in the day. He'll fall asleep anywhere. I lay him in his crib and he's out. His car seat is like a sleeping pill. Ben sleeps like a champ!
3. Growing & moving - Ben is about 18 lbs and 26 inches long. Not only is he heavy, he is solid! He is constantly trying to sit up and when he's sitting up, he's trying to stand up. When you stand him up he's trying to run or jump or kick. He is constantly moving moving moving and growing growing growing. I am convinced he will run before he crawls. Crawling is just too slow for him.

4. Making noise - Ben is a caveman. He communicates through gutteral noises and spits. One of his favorite games is when Mitch closes his eyes and pretends to be alseep, Ben will just yell (not cry, but yell) until he opens his eyes. Once Mitch's eyes are open Ben just smiles and laughs. If Ben feels like he's not getting enough attention he starts spitting. He just sputters and sputters until his entire face, neck and chest are soaking wet. Whenever we read together he reads right along, just blabbering and grunting with every turn of the page. His laugh is more like rapid grunting. He is all boy when it comes to noise. Ben doesn't cry as much as I expected. He is a very content baby - he just likes to tell you how content he is.

Like I said, Ben is all boy - Sophie and I got a little carried away one day and dressed him up in Kennedy's clothes. He didn't like it at all, but Sophie & I had fun!

WELCOME KENNEDY!

My sister, Sophie, gave birth to a beautiful baby girl yesterday (August 16th, 2009). Kennedy Evelyn Weber was born at 1:28pm weighing 5 lbs 15 oz. She was 19 inches long. Here we are waiting for the doctor to come and deliver the baby. Sophie is dilate to a 10 in this picture. Apparently being dilated to a 10 and 100% effaced means you have to wait 4 more hours for the doctor to decide he's ready. (I'm sure Sophie & Andrew will post the details on their blog, but Sophie was a TROOPER!)

Ben got tired of waiting, so he took a little snooze.
Finally we got to see the beautiful Kennedy.
I don't think I have ever seen such a small baby! She is TINY! But both Kennedy and Sophie are doing well. Congrats Sophie & Andrew! And welcome to the family, Kennedy! We love you!

Bear Lake

This July we went to Bear Lake with the Rencher's. Brandon's parents let us stay at their cozy little cabin. We had a great time!
We took some naps.
Played in the water a bit.

Hang out with Grandma on the beach.
The girls took a relaxing mud bath.
Of course we had to do some wakeboarding, tubing and boating.
What a stud! Stay back ladies, this hottie is mine!
We had some yummy food.
In the evenings we played some fun games. This particular one is called Body Ball. Here's a sample video.
(More fun photos on Kelli's blog. She took many more in both quantity and quality.)
